Montréal Casino & Hotel stands on Île Notre-Dame, the made island in the St Lawrence built for Expo 67. The complex reuses the French and Quebec pavilions from that fair: an angular aluminium-clad tower and a lower block beside it, joined together and extended. The river and the parkland of Parc Jean-Drapeau surround the site on every side.

Restaurants, bars and a cabaret with live programming occupy the public floors, and the upper levels of the tower keep the stepped profile of the original pavilion. The hotel building is a separate structure on the same grounds. Terraces look back across the water towards the city.

Fallsview Casino Resort is built into the slope above the Niagara gorge, on the ridge of hotels that looks across at the falls. Much of the volume is set into the hillside, so the complex is entered at several levels and the glazed public rooms face the water. A pedestrian bridge and a moving walkway connect it to the street above.

The building holds a theatre used for concerts, a spa, a shopping arcade and a range of restaurants, along with the hotel rooms in the tower. Galleries run along the window wall and are open to anyone passing through, with seating placed to face the gorge.

River Rock Casino Resort stands on the north arm of the Fraser river at Richmond, between Vancouver and the airport. The complex sits directly on the water, with a marina and a walkway along the bank, and the hotel towers rise from a long low base building. A rail station on the airport line is a short walk from the entrance.

Inside are a concert hall used for touring shows, a spa, several restaurants and a food hall. The riverside walk is public and continues past the site in both directions. Parking and the bus entrance are held on the landward side, away from the water.

Casino Rama Resort stands on the lands of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, near Orillia in central Ontario, between Lake Couchiching and the surrounding farmland. The complex is low and spread out, with a hotel tower at one end and long single-storey wings running from it. Published material from the operator describes the resort as owned and hosted by the First Nation.

An entertainment hall on the site is used for concerts and touring shows. The rest of the public accommodation is made up of restaurants, meeting rooms and a spa, with the hotel rooms above. The grounds are set back from the road and reached by a single approach drive.
